O Concello de Valdoviño quere expresar o seu pesar e consternación polo pasamento do sociólogo e poeta José Leira López, veciño de Lago.
 
Licenciado en Ciencias Políticas e Socioloxía pola Universidade Complutense de Madrid, Doutor en Socioloxía pola Universidade da Coruña, era profesor titular de Universidade adscrito ao Departamento de Socioloxía e Ciencia Política e da Administración da Universidade da Coruña.
 
Persoa moi querida no municipio, colaborou activamente na vida cultural e social de Valdoviño e, recentemente, ofrecía os seus versos á veciñanza nas rutas literarias organizadas polo Concello con motivo do Día das Letras Galegas e do Día do Libro. Un percorrido polo territorio no que el exercía de guía na parroquia de Lago.
